The link between Cecchi and the territory of San Gimignano has been going on for decades, the family moved there already during the Second World War.
It was a natural one to choose to buy a company inside the name of Vernaccia di San Gimignano
In 1988, the Cecchi family becomes the owner of the Castle of Montaùto, a farming estate that extends over a broad ridge.
 The total area is 82 ha, of which 48 are currently planted with vines and for the most part devoted to the Vernaccia di San Gimignano.
Specific efforts in the development and qualitative improvement has been steady and deep, the result is a park vineyards of modern conception, high plant density and a low yield per hectare.
